What Offering Reiki in a Hospital Taught Me

Reiki News Magazine Summer 2026 Hospital Volunteers Provide Reiki for Those in Need

There is something quietly sacred about walking into a hospital with the intention to offer Reiki. The noise, the fluorescent lights, the relentless pace — nothing about it whispers healing. And yet, again and again, I’ve watched it happen anyway.

I’m honored to share that my article on clinical Reiki has been published in Reiki News Magazine. In it, I reflect on my experience volunteering with Yale New Haven Hospital’s Oasis for Healing program, where a small group of trained Reiki volunteers offers bedside sessions to patients and families navigating some of the hardest moments of their lives.

What I’ve witnessed in those rooms is something I carry with me. Shoulders softening. Breath slowing. A parent finally closing their eyes. These moments have deepened my understanding of Reiki and reminded me, over and over, that healing doesn’t require the perfect setting — it just requires presence.
