Outdoor Yoga

Start your week off right! Join KMY at one of our favorite locations – outdoors at the Owenego – on Mondays at 6:00 pm for an all levels 60 minute Kripalu yoga class.

This eight week yoga series will center around resetting mind, body and breath while practicing self-observation without judgement. Each class, each pose, each breath is an opportunity to begin again, to release what no longer serves and honor the present moment exactly the way it is.

Classes are designed to strengthen the body, increase mobility, relieve stress, and calm the mind. No experience required. Beginners through advanced yogis benefit from this mindful practice. Our movements will be linked with breath, and we will enter the postures mindfully with attention to proper alignment and then practice sustaining. This careful preparation and fluid entry into postures will protect and nurture our joints, muscles, and connective tissue. All classes are crafted to explore your individual range of motion and help you find your edge, so you can safely explore the pose depending on what’s right for your body on any given day.

All classes begin with warm-ups and breathing techniques to prepare the body for postures. Each session offers a unique asana sequence designed to strengthen, lengthen, and balance the entire physical being, and ends with deep relaxation and meditation – a perfect way to begin your week. Changes are afoot this summer at KMY! We are proud to offer several opportunities to practice with us – inside, outside, on land and on the water!

Yoga at The O: Start your week off right with a Monday Reset. Join us as we practice at one of our favorite waterfront locations – the Owenego – on Mondays at 6:00 pm. This outdoor, all levels 60 minute Kripalu yoga class runs June 6th though July 18th. For more information and to register, visit KMY at The O.

Raven’s Wing Yoga: New Class Time! Tuesdays 9:30 – 10:45 am Essentials: Yoga & Meditation. This class incorporates alignment principles to emphasize strength, resilience and stamina of the physical body through mindful movement. We weave breath-work and meditation into this session to help further a calm and centered being. To register for this in person or virtual class, visit Raven’s Wing Yoga.

Raven Wellness Cruises: Sunset guided meditation sessions aboard Raven Wellness Cruises will be held Tuesday evenings beginning in June. A typical meditation includes centering, pranayama, guided and silent meditation. Round trip cruise time is approximately 80 minutes. Reservations required. KMY at Raven’s Wing Yoga

I am please to announce I am currently teaching an Open Hearts Yoga Class at Ravens Wing Yoga in Branford on Sundays at 12:00-1:15 pm in studio and online!

Open Hearts Yoga Class Description

This mixed level class begins with centering, mindful warm-ups, and breathing technique.  Unique asana sequences cultivate strength, flexibility and balance while offering modifications for students of all levels.  Classes are crafted to explore your individual range of motion and help you find your edge, so you can safely explore poses depending on what’s right for your body on that particular day.

Class concludes with a deep relaxation and meditation. We take the strength, flexibility, resiliency, and mindfulness created in class off the mat and into our lives as the physiological and psychological benefits of the practice continue to ripple outward.

My trauma-sensitive class provides a space to reground, regroup and reconnect, encouraging an individualized practice rooted in self-awareness and self-observation without judgement.

Ravens Wing Yoga offers classes on a sliding scale so all are welcome. I am truly honored to bring my classes to the RWY community – it is a perfect fit for me professionally, philosophically, and personally. Class Update January 2021

Our online Zoom classes will be taking a brief hiatus for the months of January and February during which I will be begin working toward my certification with Warriors at Ease, a military-specific, trauma-informed, evidence-based, and adaptive yoga training and credentialing. Warriors at Ease is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization with a mission to “bring the power of yoga and meditation to military communities around the world through training, advocacy, programs, and partnerships.” To learn more about the history of WAE, visit their website here.

For those of you who know me, it has long been my goal to bring yoga and meditation to the military and first responder communities dealing with PTSD; I am delighted to have this opportunity to broaden my knowledge and teaching.

POSTPONED UNTIL FEBRUARY 2021

A few words of advice as 2020 winds down: forget the New Year’s resolutions,  the “New Year, New You” hype, and unsustainable exercise regimes.  After a difficult and isolated 2020, what we all need is support, encouragement, and acceptance. We need to understand there is nothing “wrong” with us that we need to fix or change.  What we need, is to breathe. What we need is to create intentions, not force resolutions.

Unlike unrealistic resolutions, setting an intention focuses less on a fixed goal and more on the journey leading to a desired outcome. For many of us, the journey is about sustaining a sound body and mind. We understand we are in this for the long haul, not a short term fix. Join me and the Ripple Yoga community as we begin 2021 on a path to wellness.

Our February yoga practice will center around our breath as we let go of the past year and make space for new beginnings while cultivating discipline, self-compassion, and clarity in a community of fellow explorers.  Each class, each asana, each breath is an opportunity to begin again, to release what no longer serves us, honor the present, accept who we are, and revel in the knowledge that we are all connected.

Classes will help strengthen the body, increase mobility, relieve stress, and calm the mind, and they are accessible and beneficial to all –  beginners through advanced yogis.  Our movements will be linked with breath, and we will enter the postures mindfully with attention to proper alignment and then practice sustaining.
